About Bev

Bev Uipi is serving her 3rd term as an elected City Councilwoman and Mayor Pro-Tem in Millcreek. Bev is the 1st Pacific Islander female to be elected to any Utah elected seat. She served as the Deputy Director for the Board of Pardons and Parole with the State of Utah for almost 4 years.

Prior to working with the State, she was with Salt Lake County as a Center Manager at the Millcreek Community Center, where she led the center to national accreditation in 2015; and Community Relations for Salt Lake County Mayor Peter Corroon. She started her career with State Farm management, and later started her own agency with American Family Insurance.

Bev is a dynamic leader of innovative strategies for people development, organizational change, community partnerships, and brings 25 years of experience in leadership in the public and private sectors of local government and regional management. Bev received her B.S. degrees in Consumer Economics and Housing from the University of Georgia, where she played volleyball; and Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Utah.

Her hobbies include travel, coaching and playing volleyball, football, rugby, art, and volunteering. Bev has served as an advisor, commissioner, and board member to many organizations as a community leader in Utah. Boards include the Governor’s Multicultural Commission, The Road Home Services Committee, Junior League of Salt Lake City, NeighborWorks YouthWorks Steering Committee, Comagine Utah Board, Intermountain Volleyball Association Board, USA Volleyball Junior Assembly Council, Salt Lake County Council on Diversity, Utah Labor Commission Advisory Council, The Children’s Center Advisory Council, Olympus Little Rugby President, Utah Youth Rugby Executive Youth Commissioner and Executive Girls Commissioner, Parent Teacher Association and school community council, and more.

Bev is a proud American-Tongan native of Millcreek and single mother of 21-year-old son, Xane.
